What we collect and why

• Email of reviewers: to confirm the review, send moderation decisions and contact you about reports. Never published.
• Review content (answers, text and photos): to publish on the site.
• Photo data: we read the date and location stored in the photo to verify the visit. We keep only the date and whether the location matches; the published file contains no metadata.
• Browser location, only if you press “Confirm my location”: we compare it with the address and keep only whether you were within 150 m. Coordinates are not stored.
• IP address, stored only as an irreversible code (hash), to limit abuse.
• Reports and replies: name, email and text, to handle the request.
• Account (optional): email, name (if you sign in with Google), saved addresses, the link to your reviews and sign-in dates. Sign-in codes are stored only in irreversible form and expire after 10 minutes. We also use the number of accounts to measure interest in the project.
• Monthly update, only if you tick the box: your email, language and consent date, to send a short email about once a month. Unsubscribe with the link in each email or in “My account”. We may use an email-sending service (e.g. Brevo or MailerLite) as a processor.

Legal bases: consent (submitting a review and location) and legitimate interest (security, abuse prevention, compliance with the Digital Services Act).

Who we share with

• Website hosting (Namecheap).
• Anthropic, for automated text and photo checks. Content is sent without your email.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim, to locate new addresses (street and number only).
• Google, only if you choose “Sign in with Google”: we receive your verified email and name.
• Authorities, when required by law.

How long we keep it

• Unsent drafts: deleted after 2 days.
• Reviews with unconfirmed email: deleted after 7 days.
• Published reviews: while published, or until you ask for removal.
• Account: until you delete it in “My account”.
• Monthly update: until you unsubscribe.
• Moderation logs and reports: 3 years, for defence in case of dispute.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing, by writing to contacto@sherlockhomes.pt. You can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD).

Cookies

We use only technical cookies: session (needed for forms) and language preference. No advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
